Dallas Cowboys consultant Calvin Hill, who administers off-field support programs for the team is looking into devices that will immobilize vehicles when a driver is impaired. After a single-car, alcohol-related crash Saturday morning killed practice squad linebacker Jerry Brown and put defensive tackle Josh Brent behind bars, Hill is considering mandating Cowboys players have the device SafeKey used in their vehicles. "Obviously, we do whatever we can do," Hill said. "I don't know what more we can do. We're always examining and going over things." "We are considering that," Hill said. The SafeKey is a unique ignition key immobilizer that prevents a vehicle engine from starting if the driver is unfit to drive safely. It is fully independent of other driver analysis methods – breath or otherwise. It analyzes the only thing that counts: how quickly a driver can react to a stimulus – braking, swerving, avoiding pedestrians and the like. It’s well-known that many drugs, including alcohol, significantly increase the time a person requires to react to a change in circumstance such as a red light or obstruction in the road. USA TODAY Sports reached out to the NFL Players Association to see if they would allow teams to mandate SafeKey for players.  They did not respond to their calls.    "Everyone has free will and makes their own decisions," Hill said. "You try to make them aware that every decision has a consequence and that they're responsible. You hope they consider the potential consequences."
