The running back situation of the Dallas Cowboys is hazy as the team prepares for this weekend’ s matchup against their division rival the New York Giants. With DeMarco Murray already sidelined due to an ankle injury, Dallas lost running back Felix Jones Sunday to a bruised left knee. He was replaced by Phillip Tanner, reports Brandon George of The Dallas Morning News. “He was battling through a couple things in the ballgame,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said of Jones on Monday. “It was great to see Tanner go in there and handle that situation at the end of the game. Hopefully Felix will be better this week and be ready to go against the Giants.” The Cowboys were non-committal yesterday regarding the status’ of Murray and Jones. Murray has been recovering from a sprained left foot. Garrett is optimistic regarding Murray, as he’s show an ability to heal quickly.
