Because emerging star Sean Lee has a wrist injury, and rookie Bruce Carter is still learning the system, the Dallas Cowboys likely will have a pair of familiar faces roaming the middle of their defense against Seattle on Sunday.
Keith Brooking probably will rejoin the starting lineup, joining Bradie James at the inside linebacker spots in Dallas' 3-4 defense.
James and Brooking started every game the last two years. They've split time with each other this year because Lee has taken over one side.
The 30-something veterans are both in the last year of their contracts. They've taken on special-teams duties to fill the void in their playing time. They've also become mentors to the second-round picks who are clearly the team's future at the position.
