Barber was one of the Cowboy veterans to be let go today

As expected the Cowboys made their cuts official today cutting 4 starters and a few others. The Cowboys officially cut RB Marion Barber, WR Roy Williams, RT Marc Colombo, and RG Leonard Davis. With those cuts it seems that the Cowboys have worked themselves into a decent spot to sign a free agent or two. The Cowboys didn’t stop there, however. They also released K Kris Brown, who they signed at the end of the 2010 season; T Robert Brewster, a former third round pick in 2009; G Travis Bright, LB Kelvin Smith, and WR Troy Bergeron.

The Cowboys have also sign all but two of their 2011 draft picks, DeMarco Murray and Bruce Carter.

One interesting bit of free agent news is the Cowboys unwillingness or possibly inability to sign DE Stephen Bowen who has reportedly agreed to terms with rival the Washington Redskins.

The player news is coming fast and furious this week and with tomorrow’s beginning to free agency signing it seems like things will continue to heat up.
