The Landry Hat:
WHY CAN'T YOU BE MORE LIKE ELI?!?! /DumbCowboysfan
I am not sure why I have spent the past few hours listening to readings of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven” on YouTube. Maybe I like poetry. Perhaps I share a spiritual bond with a fellow former West Pointer who walked the Long Gray Line many years before I did. Maybe the raven speaks to me as well. We, Cowboys fans, have lost our Lenore. The dynasties of old are Nevermore to return to Dallas. We must build new ones or we will be left to be tortured by our thoughts, dreams and memories until we approach the brink of insanity. Nevermore. Nevermore. Maybe Poe was onto something…….…… or maybe he was just talking to birds.
Usually around this time of year, talking heads on the bright box in the den tell us that teams either need to pick the best player available or a very specific need for their team. I have never understood this argument. The best franchises take the best player available that fits a need. It should never go deeper t...

Dallas Cowboys LB Keith Brooking Calls Out WR Dez Bryant, Says Time to ‘Be a Pro’
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Keith Brooking has been around for a long time, as illustrated by his 14 year NFL career. He has seen it all. Great players come and go, while others simply waste their talent. He does not want to see that happen with wide receiver Dez Bryant, who has had a difficult time keeping out of trouble in his short professional career.
To that end, Brooking called...
Who Should Stay/Who Should Go? Anthony Spencer
In this week’s addition of Who Should Stay/Who Should Go I
will be talking about Anthony Spencer and whether or not the Cowboys should
resign the free agent. Spencer was drafted in the 1st round by the
Cowboys in the 2007 NFL Draft. Now when you look at Spencer’s numbers they are
not horrible but when you think about the fact that he is a first round pick
you tend to expect more...
Entire Dallas Cowboys Organization Should Embody Bill Callahan’s Mindset
New Dallas Cowboys offensive line coach Bill Callahan has been questioned half to death about taking his new job. The Cowboys hired Callahan as offensive line coach following Hudson Houck’s announcement of his retirement and then added “offensive coordinator” to Callahan’s title a day later. When asked why he took the job as “offensive coordinator” with...
Dallas Cowboys’ Jerome Henderson Needs New Defensive Backs
New Dallas Cowboys secondary coach Jerome Henderson is a very confident guy and his history with Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is a major plus. However, his confidence in the Cowboys’ current stable of defensive backs isn’t impressive, although it at least seems sincere. Regardless of the confidence Henderson expresses in the Cowboys’ secondary, this unit desperately...
Jason Garrett Willing to Give Up Play-calling Duties
On Thursday, Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said that he would be willing to give up play-calling duties, but it won’t happen in 2012.
“Absolutely, absolutely,” Garrett said when he was asked if he’ll give up play=calling one day. “I think you just get to a point where, ‘Hey, I’m going to turn that over to somebody else,’...
Randon Thoughts: Cowboys Could A Thing or Two from NY
So we have our 2 Super Bowl contestants and one of them is our hatred rival the New York Giants, who of course we are going to root against. To think, we were 6 minutes away from ending their season and now they are playing in the Super Bowl. It just goes to show you that you don’t have to play lights out football every week of the season, only when it really matters.
Now, for...
2012 NFL Draft: Don’t be Surprised if the Cowboys select a Running Back
Predicting what the Dallas Cowboys will do in the NFL Draft is always difficult when you throw in the “wheelin’ and dealin’” of owner Jerry Jones. The only thing that is predictable is that Jones will probably be unpredictable. But the calming influence of new Head Coach Jason Garrett had more predictable effect on last year’s draft. With only one exception...
