The Cowboys placed five players on the physically unable to perform list to start training camp. Offensive guard Mackenzy Bernadeau (hip), cornerback Mike Jenkins (shoulder) and offensive lineman Kevin Kowalski (ankle) were the notable veterans. Safety Matt Johnson (hamstring) and wide receiver Danny Coale (foot) are also sidelined after failing physicals. Bernadeau was signed as a free agent from the Panthers and expected to start at right guard. Jenkins, a first-round pick in 2008, has been a starter at right cornerback but requested a trade in the offseason after the Cowboys signed free agent Brandon Carr to a $50 million contract and drafted Morris Claiborne sixth overall.

Scratching the NFL Itch: Dallas Cowboys Preview

The Dallas Cowboys were a lot of things last season, successful is NOT one of the terms I would use though. Just take a look at how their first game against the Jets played out.
