Dallas Cowboys running back Phillip Tanner may just be the odd man out this season with the team currently holding a stable of backs. DeMarco Murray is the starter, followed by Lance Dunbar, rookie Joseph Randle, undrafted rookie Kendial Lawrence and veteran fullback Lawrence Vickers. Tanner saw limited play time last season with only 25 carries for 61 yards, but this offseason, he lost some weight and feels great about his chances at catching the coaching staff's eyes. “I feel a lot better,” said Tanner, who is listed as 5-foot-10, 217 pounds," Tanner said, via Christian Clark of the Star Telegram. “I worked a lot on my quickness and explosiveness. I lost a little weight and leaned up a little bit. I’m able to see things and hit the hole without hesitating. Coming in and working hard every day, working with the offensive line and jelling with my team is the big thing." One important member of the Cowboys staff has noticed the change in Tanner, who spent the offseason sprinting and liftin ghis way back into shape - first-year running backs coach Gary Brown. “From what I’ve seen so far, he looks like he’s in great shape,” Brown said. “He’s studying. He knows what he’s doing and not making any mental errors.”

Dallas Cowboys Position Outlook: Safety

Barry Church-Courtesy of ESPN Perhaps the biggest question marks exist entering the 2013 season for the Dallas Cowboys at the safety position. This position was a huge weakness in 2012, and still remains an immediate weakness for the Cowboys.
