The Cowboys released wide receiver Andre Holmes over the weekend, according to the NFL transactions page.
A 6-foot-4 target out of Hillsdale College, Holmes was one of the most prominent names in the preseason race to become the Cowboys' No. 3 receiver, but he only managed two catches for 11 yards in seven games this season.
He also played on special teams for the Cowboys, recovering an onside kick against Baltimore.
Holmes' release is the latest turn for the Cowboys' disappointing receiving corps this season. After an impressive debut against the Giants, No. 3 WR Kevin Ogletree has failed to establish himself as a consistent threat and is out after suffering a concussion last week vs. Cleveland.
