Virginia Tech Hokies
The Cowboys announced Monday that they have signed three of their seven 2012 draft picks.
Wide receiver Danny Coale, tight end James Hanna and linebacker Caleb McSurdy all agreed to terms.
Coale, a fifth-round pick out of Virginia Tech, broke his foot during the Cowboys' first organized team activity last month but should be back by training camp. He is expected to compete with Kevin Ogletree, Dwayne Harris, Andre Holmes and Raymond Radway for the No. 3 receiver spot behind Miles Austin and Dez Bryant.
Hanna, a sixth-round selection, was added to fill the void left by Martellus Bennett, who signed with the New York Giants in March. Hanna, a Flower Mound product, is considered a better pass-catcher than blocker. He started 27-of-54 games for Oklahoma, catching 45 passes for 673 yards over the last two seasons.
McSurdy, a seventh rounder, is a project at inside linebacker that is expected to contribute on special teams in 2012. The 6-1, 245-pounder recorded 131 tackles during his senior year at Montana.
Financial terms of the contracts were not disclosed, but according to NFL.com, each contract is expected to include league-minimum base salaries of 390,000 (2012), 480,000 (2013), 570,000 (2014) and 660,000 (2015).
With those contracts out of the way, the Cowboys have four unsigned picks remaining, top pick Morris Claiborne, third rounder Tyrone Crawford and fourth round selections Kyle Wilber and Matt Johnson.

The Dallas Cowboys were in serious need of a backup quarterback for Tony Romo this season and quickly moved to sign Kyle Orton this offseason. Orton comes with a distinguished resume and was perhaps one of the best quarterbacks the Cowboys could have chosen this year. Every team has its super stars and has players that are supposed to be and are expected by fans to be superstars.
It also has players who despite their on-field accomplishments never get the credit they deserve.
Let's take an inside look at America's Team, the Dallas Cowboys, and see who on this roster of stars fit into the overrated and underrated category.
IRVING, Texas How important is it for NFL players to maintain a strict diet? Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has bragged about his ability to devour McDonald's on a regular basis yet still stay in elite shape.
On the other hand, running back Joe McKnight said last month that eating at the same popular fast food establishment allowed him to gain 16 pounds his rookie...
Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins reported to Valley Ranch for the start of a three-day minicamp. Jenkins is recovering from shoulder surgery and won't participate in on-field drills. The Cowboys have resisted overtures from multiple teams seeking to acquire Jenkins after Dallas traded up to draft Morris Claiborne in the 2012 draft and signed Brandon Carr to a $50 million deal...
Cornerback Mike Jenkins is back at Valley Ranch with the rest of his Dallas Cowboys teammates.
After skipping voluntary workouts this offseason, Jenkins rejoined the team Tuesday for the start of a mandatory veteran minicamp. The three-day session is the last for the Cowboys until reporting to training camp in California in late July.
Jenkins had previously remained home in Florida...
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was very happy to see cornerback Mike Jenkins show up for the beginning of this week’s mandatory minicamp. He once again reiterated that Jenkins won’t be traded.
“We’re not going to trade Jenkins,” Jones said. “I’m excited about the fact that we’ve got this kind of corner situation. We’ll maximize it for our team and...
It was in the middle of January in 2002 when I first walked into the Tae Kwon Do studio in my hometown.
Inside that studio, I met my first true athletic rival when I was 12-years-old. His name was Corey.
Corey and I had an interesting relationship. We didn’t hate each other by any means, but we weren’t friends by any stretch.
Corey had started classes roughly two months before...
Tony Romo is in the argument of best brand promoter in sports. Since 2009, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback has become synonymous with Starter sportswear.
If Romo participates in a golf outing, he's wearing a Starter shirt. While throwing out the first pitch at a Texas Rangers game two weeks ago, Romo wore a Starter hat. When the Super Bowl was in Arlington, Romo shot an advertisement...
It’s important to instill values in your kids while they’re young. If possible, while their brains are still spongy and unable to record memories. And what could more important than the line of sports apparel that you endorse? If you’re Tony Romo, it’s second only to making sure you have time to fit in 18 holes every day.

Although Dallas Cowboys defensive end Jason Thatcher may have changed his tune on comments he made earlier this year about the lack of leadership within the locker room, the concern is certainly plausible.
Who is the leader for the Dallas Cowboys?
According to the Star-Telegram, receiver Dez Bryant noted that he is “somewhat of a leader”for the younger players on the roster....
With so many NFL teams going with a committee backfield the past few years, it’s really hard to find that one running back who is going to have a spectacular fantasy football season. After much self debating and pondering on who I think could finally have a breakout year in 2012, here are five guys
