With seven offensive guards on their 90-man roster already, the Cowboys added an eight guard today when they signed veteran Uche Nwaneri. Nwaneri is 30 years old and was a fifth round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2007 draft. The 6-3, 310-pound Nwaneri was born in Dallas and went to high school at Garland Naaman Forest. The details of the signing have not yet been revealed, but Nwaneri wasn’t shy about expressing his excitement via his Twitter page: “It’s official! I’m coming home, I’m coming home #BigD#LoneStarState#NewBeginings” tweeted Nwaneri. With first round rookie Zack Martin projected to start at right guard, and Mackenzie Bernadeau battling with Ron Leary for the left guard position, Nwaneri’s role with the team would initially seem to be strictly for veteran depth at this time. Nwaneri is a great depth option, however, having started 92 games over seven seasons with the team. In taking a look at his profile on NFL.com, it looks as though he was a very reliable player for the Panthers, never having missed more than one game in all but two of his seven seasons. With that said, the word out of Jacksonville today is that his play had deteriorated over time as he aged, which would seemingly make a reserve role a great fit for him at this stage in his career.     The post Cowboys Sign Veteran Guard Uche Nwaneri appeared first on Cowboys Addicts.
