The Cowboys will cut Cory Procter today, opening up the role of backup center in 2010, the spot Procter handled the last three seasons. Procter was active for every game in 2009 but saw only brief action at center and guard. In 2008, Procter started 11 of 16 games at left guard with Kyle Kosier suffering a serious foot injury that kept him out for most of the season. Procter started two games in 2007. Procter had signed his restricted free agent tender worth $1.759 million but it was not guaranteed. The Cowboys had made Procter available through a trade prior to the draft but could not find a deal. With Procter gone, the Cowboys do not have a true center behind Andre Gurode. Montrae Holland, who was re-signed to a two-year deal a few weeks ago, saw limited action there last year in training camp and struggled. He could get more work there this off-season.
