The Dallas Cowboys have no plans to offer a multiyear contract extension to outside linebacker Anthony Spencer before next Monday's deadline, DallasCowboys.com reported.

Spencer has already signed his tender, worth $8.85 million, and if the deadline passes without a new deal, Spencer would have to wait until after the last regular-season game of the coming season before signing a multiyear deal.

It would cost the Cowboys $10.6 million in base salary to franchise him again in 2013, and that's unlikely, according to NFL.com, because the team is already dealing with cap penalties again next season over its accounting during the uncapped 2010 season.

Spencer has been a starter for the Cowboys the past three seasons, and he had 51 tackles, 15 assists and 6.0 sacks in 2011.
