Despite the fact that quarterback Tony Romo has thrown 13 interceptions and 8 touchdowns in the first seven games of this season, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is still focused on locking him up to a long-term deal to make sure he retires as a Cowboy. “We still feel that way,” Jones said, via Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “We’ve got a lot of confidence in Tony. Tony has a lot of confidence in himself. He is going to be fine. He is not the problem.” Jones believes that Romo is overly criticized since the Cowboys are a high-profile team.  He still believes he’ll get better and help them win a championship “I think he is going to get better,” Jones said. “There are a lot of quarterbacks it doesn’t happen right way for them as far as winning championships and that type of thing. You don’t have to look any further than some of the Hall of Famers like Elway and Favre. It came late in their careers. They had some of the same issues that Tony has had. They had some really great games and some tough ones in terms of turning it over and that type of thing. It’s all part of the process. There’s a lot of expectations. He welcomes that. He will thrive.” Romo reminds me of Favre because of how much he turns the ball over.  I understand that it’s not all his fault, but in my opinion he won’t lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl title until he cuts out the bone headed mistakes.   var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })();
