The Cowboys informed cornerback Bryan McCann yesterday that they plan to keep him as an exclusive rights free agent. He will not be able to sign a new contract until a new Collective Bargaining Agreement is in place. The current CBA expires on March 3rd.
McCann made a big impact his rookie year. He was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week once, as well as NFC Defensive Player of the Week.
A players who has less than three seasons of NFL service time and are without a contract qualify as exclusive rights free agents. Wide receiver, special teamer and winner of the reality series 4th and Long Jesse Holley is also expected to return as an exclusive rights free agent.
