When you have been in the league for as long as Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne you are allowed to be a little eccentric when it comes to certain things. Nothing too crazy mind you--no showing up to press conferences in nothing but a Speedo or talking to reporters through a ventriloquist dummy he calls Peyton.
No, he just wants to make sure everyone knows when he has arrived at training camp--and that he has. One year he showed up in a dump truck because the team was "under construction." Last season he showed up in a military convoy in a Humvee because he was ready to report for duty.
So after a surprising 11-5 season for the Colts that saw him catch over 100 balls for only the fourth time in his career (106 for 1355 yards) what does he do next.
Helicopter. The man flies in on a helicopter.
According to Colts reporter Mike Chappell his logic for making such an entrance was pretty simple and straightforward:

As reported by the Colts official website, Reggie Wayne, had a message for the NFL on Saturday was arrived at Colts training camp in Anderson, Indiana: “Sky’s the Limit”. Wayne arrived via helicopter in what has become his own little tradition. In previous years, Wayne has entered camp in hunting gear, a dump truck, and army vehicle, just to name a few. Wayne’s passenger...

Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne decided to arrive to training camp this year via helicopter and had a very good reason.
Cols.com has the story.
“I sat back and thought we got a pretty good team. I really think our team this year is better than last year,” Wayne said after landing.
“If we don’t hurt ourselves, the sky’s the limit for us. I really...
Reggie Wayne's annual training camp arrival will take place later than usual and at a different location.
The rest of Wayne's teammates arrived in their usual parking lot at Anderson University on Saturday morning.
Indianapolis is one of the last NFL teams to open camp, but players are eager to get started on their second season behind coach Chuck Pagano and quarterback...
According to Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star, it looks like Darrius Heyward-Bey is starting alongside Reggie Wayne.
Also, in #colts base offense, starting WRs were Reggie Wayne, Darrius Heyward-Bey. TY Hilton might be third guy. Makes sense.

Reggie Wayne sure know how to make an entrance.
The veteran Indianapolis Colts receiver decided that coming in a high-end luxury automobile just wasn't good enough, so he arrived to camp in a helicopter.
A little over the top but this was for a good cause, as he brought a guest from Riley Children's Hospital with him to camp on the helicopter.
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne literally flew into training camp in a helicopter. How swag is that?
The Indianapolis Colts' training camp starts tomorrow and there are going to be plenty of battles to watch. Today's entry is about the outside linebackers. The Indianapolis Colts used a draft pick on an outside linebacker in this year's draft and they signed a veteran as well. Add that to the fact that Robert Mathis is the starter on one side and you have yourself a good...
Andrew Luck and Chuck Pagano went back to work Sunday when the Indianapolis Colts held their first practice of training camp.
It's a lot different than the last time they worked out at Anderson University. Back then, Pagano was feeling run-down and Luck was still getting a crash-course in playing quarterback in the NFL.
Now, Luck is teaching teammates about the intricacies...
According to Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star, Darrius Heyward-Bey has been the Colts' No. 2 wide receiver in base formations so far during training camp.Fantasy Spin:T.Y. Hilton, who had 861 yards and seven scores as a rookie after being selected in the late third round, has been the third receiver. The Colts like to use a lot of two tight end sets, so this is a notable...
Just a year removed from one of the worst seasons in franchise history, no one expected much from the Indianapolis Colts in 2012. As a team that was rebuilding from the ground up, just a few wins would have been considered a success. Instead, one of the league's youngest rosters ended up with an 11-5 record, and was without of doubt one of the year's best stories.
The Indianapolis Colts waived Baylor guard Robert Griffin and injured linebacker Scott Lutrus on Thursday.
Indy replaced those two by signing guard Danous Estenor and center Thomas Austin.
The 6-foot-3, 307-pound Estenor started 23 games at South Florida including 11 last year when the Bulls averaged 432.8 yards in total offense and led the Big East in fewest sacks allowed. Austin...
