Current New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma and defensive end Will Smith, and former Saints linebacker Scott Fujita and defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove have officially appealed their multi-game suspensions for violating the league's anti-bounty policy. The four players had until Monday to file their appeals. Vilma's suspension was to begin immediately, while Smith, Hargrove and Fujita will be allowed to participate in their team's off-season programs, training camp and preseason games before their suspensions take effect at the start of the regular season. Late last week, the NFLPA filed a grievance with Vice President of Labor Arbitration and Litigation W. Buckley Briggs and Special Master Stephen Burbank, contending that the conduct from the 2009 and 2010 seasons should not have been considered as the league released all players from punishment for conduct that took place prior to entering into the 2011 Collective Bargaining Agreement, additionally, the union contends that a Non-Injury Grievance Arbitrator, not NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, was authorized to preside over the matter.

Jonathan Vilma Wants to see the proof that he was involved with bounties

I haven’t yet blogged about Jonathan Vilma’s suspension because my opinions are a little all over the place. But my primary thought was that suspending a 30 year old defensive player for a year is infinitely more harsh than suspending a coach for a year. Especially since Vilma plays linebacker which is a position that isn’t so easy to come back from after a year off. It’s...

Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma has appealed his season-long suspension under the NFL's bounty investigation, which named him as a ringleader of the cash-for-hits system. In papers filed Monday, Vilma argues that Commissioner Roger Goodell should not hear the appeal and asks for a delay in the process until the matter of who should decide on it has been settled through NFL...

Browns linebacker Scott Fujita and the NFL have a disagreement. A serous, serious disagreement. Fujita released his first statement on the three-game suspension he received last week for, the league said, making significant contributions to the New Orleans Saints bounty pool when Fujita was with the Saints. Fujita said in a statement on his website ScottFujita.com, that he disagreed...
