Dallas Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins is finally going to get some relief from the pain from his separated right shoulder. Jenkins will have surgery on the shoulder this week, hopefully ending his problems with it. Jenkins separated the shoulder in several games this year, most recently in the Cowboys’ season finale loss to the New York Giants.
Jenkins was by far the Cowboys’ best cornerback in 2011, but that’s not saying much. Still, he accomplished that with virtually one arm; after separating the shoulder, Jenkins was unable to lift his right arm above his head. That makes covering elite NFL receivers pretty difficult, but Jenkins did a great job of it this season.
The Cowboys desperately need help at cornerback, especially if Jenkins’ surgery doesn’t go perfectly. There are several marquee free agent cornerbacks available this offseason and Jenkins would greatly appreciate the help.
