FF Locker Room:
2.15 Dallas Cowboys Gavin Escobar, TE, San Diego St., (6-6,254)
After the Cowboys floundered away their first pick and turned it into a center with a third round grade, it looks like they reached for a tight end with their second pick, taking the third tight end of the draft. Escobar is a great pass catcher, presumably they’re hoping to develop him into the replacement for Jason Witten. Escobar is a great route runner with good hands, but isn’t going to get you any yards after the catch. He also isn’t a blocker, but that likely won’t be a huge concern as he’ll be splitting out wide for the majority of his snaps in Dallas.

A friend recently suggested that I put together a top ten list of Jerry Jones foot-in-mouth statements. That might be fun…and a challenge. Not to find ten candidates but to settle on just ten.
Now, we can add another. Another friend, a Twitter friend, put me onto this one.

Reports came out after the first day of the draft that Jason Garrett and the scouts were extremely upset with the Cowboys’ decision-making that day. From what I’ve gathered, Garrett and the scouts wanted the team to stay put at 18 and draft Sharrif Floyd, which makes perfect sense even if you don’t think Floyd was a steal there– they need 4-3 players as they make that transition...
