Chase Daniel is eager to see how he'll handle first-team snaps in practice after spending the past three seasons as Drew Brees' understudy. With Brees holding out for a contract extension, the Saints plan to have Daniel work with the starting offense if Brees is still not signed when offseason practices open next Tuesday. Daniel, a former Heisman Trophy finalist at Missouri, has been with the Saints since 2009. However, he has thrown only eight passes in regular season games, completing six for 45 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. Receiver Lance Moore says he can tell that Daniel has learned a lot from watching the way Brees leads the team. Moore says Daniel has the ability to command teammates' attention despite his lack of game experience.

What Saints’ fans might be wearing if Brees isn’t re-signed

New Orleans Saints starting quarterback Drew Brees broke the all-time NFL passing record for most yards in a single season in 2011 yet his reward during the offseason was a franchise tag rather than a long-term contract extension.  The negotiation process has began to frustrate Brees, so much, that he’s beginning to speak out about

Brees frustrated with Saints

Drew Brees voiced several concerns he has over his contract dispute with the Saints. He thinks it can adversely affect the team.

Brees critical of Saints in radio interview

Drew Brees says he's frustrated by a lack of communication with the New Orleans Saints in his ongoing contract negotiations and believes the club should show more urgency to get a long-term deal done. In an interview with WWL radio in New Orleans on Wednesday night, Brees says he's extremely frustrated that he still is not signed and could miss the Saints' first organized...

New Orleans Saints Owe Drew Brees More than Just Money.

The Saints Need To Stop Being Cheap With Franchise QB Drew Brees. Not only has the team dragged it’s feet in terms of giving him a lucrative but well-deserved contract extension but it also has gotten wrapped up in the ugly bounty scandal that will force Brees to play 2012 without head coach Sean Payton, who has called the plays since the quarterback’s arrival in the...

Drew Brees growing increasingly upset with Saints over lack of extension

With voluntary workouts already underway and training camp just around the corner, Drew Brees has yet to sign a contract with the Saints for the 2012 season. As you know, the Saints have applied the franchise tag to their star quarterback. For obvious reasons, Brees has yet to sign the tender and doesn’t sound like he intends to. With each passing day, the Saints’ star quarterback...

Drew Brees: Contract talks “extremely frustrating”

(Chris Graythen/Getty Images) With everything that has happened this offseason for the Saints, having their franchise quarterback frustrated and without a long term deal is the last thing they need. “It’s extremely frustrating for me, but here we are,” Brees told WWL Radio in New Orleans. “I know I’m certainly committed to getting a long-term deal, as I have been throughout...

Mickey Loomis promises Saints will get a deal done with Drew Brees

The league’s most prominent contract negotiations right now are between Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. Brees saved the Saints franchise from mediocrity and a possible move from New Orleans, yet the organization is still playing hardball with the single season passing yards record holder. Yesterday, Brees spoke out and called the negotiations, as you could expect, “extremely...

Brees “extremely frustrated” with contract negotiations with Saints

It’s arguable that no player is more valuable to his team right now than Drew Brees is to the Saints. Before he signed with them, there was talk that the Saints could leave New Orleans and now any talk of that nature would be ridiculous as Drew Brees has turned the Saints into a perennial contender and a Super Bowl Champion. Given how willing teams have been to resign their quarterbacks...

Brees on contract talks: 'Extremely frustrating'

Drew Brees continues to be bold in expressing his emotions regarding the slow pace of contract negotiations with the Saints. Brees' contract expired at the end of the 2011 season. He's the Saints exclusive franchise player, meaning he cannot negotiate with other teams, but has not signed the one-year, $16.3 million tender and doesn't plan to any time soon. "...

Loomis: Brees deal has to be right for both sides

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says he isn't taking any of Drew Brees' recent complaints about slow contract negotiations personally. Loomis says the star quarterback's next contract is going to have a significant effect on the team for a long time, so it has to be right for the Saints as well as Brees. Loomis spoke while attending a Saints Hall of Fame event...

Loomis: Brees' deal must be right

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says he isn't taking any of Drew Brees' recent complaints about the slow pace of contract negotiations personally. ''I feel for him. I feel with him. He wants to be here right now. I want him to be here right now and we'll work hard to get that accomplished,'' Loomis said Friday while attending an event at the Saints...
