Darnell Dockett is fuming at former Florida State teammate Chris Rix for calling his sexual preference into question. Rix, who played quarterback at Florida State from 2001-2004, called into “Jay Mohr Sports” on Wednesday and discussed Dockett, who was a defensive lineman for the Seminoles from 2000-2003. The two talked about the Twitter exchanges Dockett has had with Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron over his girlfriend, beauty queen Katherine Webb. Rix said it was a “sign of relief” for him to see Dockett interested in a woman, because he and his teammates questioned Dockett’s sexual preference while in college. “This is actually a sign of relief when I saw these tweets,” said Rix. “There was always jokes about Darnell about kind of what his preference was in college. There was a few incidents of him hanging out with dudes in the union and some other stuff, but, hey, that’s a whole other story.” After Rix raised the issue, Mohr pressed him for more details. “Let’s just say guys would make fun of Darnell in some unique cases in college,” said Rix. “I wasn’t planning on this being brought up. With the whole Katherine Webb thing, I have to admit, I was a little encouraged here — Darnell going after the girls.” Mohr asked if players would question Dockett. “Yes they did. Let’s just say there were a few stories of ‘why is Darnell hanging out at this dude’s house or this guy’s dorm room a little more than you’re used to guys hanging out in dorm rooms?’” Rix also said that Dockett isn’t as tough as he appears on Twitter. He shared a story from college about teammate Greg Jones, currently a fullback with the Jacksonville Jaguars, taking it to Dockett. “[Dockett] said something that rubbed Greg Jones in the wrong way. Greg picks up Darnell Dockett WWE-style and slams him through a coffee table. Let’s just say Darnell Dockett never said anything that would offend Greg Jones from that day on.” Word of Rix’s interview with Mohr began spreading on Thursday, leading the former Seminoles quarterback to apologize to Dockett over Twitter: @ddockett Apologize about radio show yesterday Dock! Convo was about you, KWebb & GJones..I let it go somewhere it shouldn’t have. My bad DD — Chris Rix (@CoachRix) February 7, 2013 That meant little to Dockett, who proceeded to blast Rix in response: And Rix responded: 1 thing you can control about apologizing to someone: Doing it. // 1 thing you can’t control: whether they accept it. — Chris Rix (@CoachRix) February 7, 2013 You can listen to Rix’s comments below: The post Darnell Dockett fuming at Chris Rix for questioning his sexual preference appeared first on Larry Brown Sports.
