Darrelle Revis' first season in Tampa Bay has epitomized the Buccaneers' 2013 campaign: disappointing and anticlimactic. Saddled with a reconstructed knee, the All-Pro cornerback has struggled to return to top form, and it's shown in his play.

So has Revis Island become a mere peninsula? Not quite.

"I'm getting back to my old self," Revis told the Tampa Bay Times. "I'm feeling very comfortable. The knee is feeling a lot better, the leg is feeling a lot better. So this is nothing new. Coming into this, this was the process and this is what I've got to deal with. I've just got to keep on working on it, getting better."

Aside from the physical standpoint, Revis went through a culture shock of sorts this year, leaving the comfy confines of Club Rex and the Jets for the dictator-like rule of coach Greg Schiano and the winless Bucs. Inexplicably, Schiano didn't play to Revis' strengths -- man coverage. Instead, Schiano's defense presented a lot of zone looks.

The result? Just six passes defensed and one interception for Revis, whose reputation as a shutdown corner still precedes him despite the shaky statline.

"That's how it usually goes, but I think the biggest thing is fighting against boredom sometimes," Revis said. "But I still have got to prepare that teams are going to throw the ball at me, especially lined up on the best receivers. Even looking at Miami, they're going to throw Mike Wallace the ball a lot, so I've got to be ready."

As he alluded to, Revis will be in the national spotlight on Monday night, when receiver Mike Wallace and the Dolphins come to town. Wallace has disappointed in his own right this season, but his size, speed, and athletic ability presents a tough test for any corner -- even one worth $96 million.
