Although he received a few free agent nibbles this offseason, five-time Pro Bowl safety Darren Sharper is ready to hang his well-accomplished cleats up. A source tells ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Sharper has decided to retire after 14 seasons in the NFL. Sharper, 36, last played for the Saints, and was a significant part of the team’s improbable Super Bowl run in 2009. Then, microfracture knee surgery the following offseason basically ended his career, as he missed nearly all of the 2010 campaign due to injury.
