David Garrard: I want to play

Though he’s been out of work since the Jaguars inexplicably waived him before the season began, quarterback David Garrard still feels like he can contribute to an NFL team this year. Per ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Garrard took time out on Saturday to reinforce a few points, the most important being he’s a football player first and foremost, and would like the opportunity to prove that to a “committed” organization. “There’s been a lot of speculation about me that I don’t appreciate,” said Garrard on Saturday. “I was going to lay low with the media but I feel I have to protect my name.
