David Wilson was selected in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, 32nd overall.
The expectations were that Wilson would be the compliment to Ahmad Bradshaw. In the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, Wilson lost a fumble on his second career carry and did not receive another carry for the rest of the game.
He also opened the door as Andre Brown who rushed for 71 yards on 13 carries, converting a two-point conversion and scoring the game-winning touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the following week, and securing the 2nd running back position.
Wilson fell deeper in Tom Coughlin’s doghouse until last night when Brown broke his fibula vs. the Green Bay Packers.
“Takes an awful lot off of the win,” Tom Coughlin said via Hank Gola of the New York Daily News, not exactly a vote of confidence for Wilson.
