The Jets got back to work, on this, the last day of July! You know what that means—football is just around the corner.
The QB competition continued today, and Mark Sanchez struggled mightingly, playing with the 'ones.' Per NYP's Brian Costello, Sanchez went 3 for 9 in team drills, with a TD and an INT. Some reports had 3 for 10. Costello was not alone in his opinions of Sanchez today, as others on the Jets beat followed the same verbiage. Geno Smith went 4 for 5 with a sack.
In my opinion, the longer this goes on, the more Geno Smith is overtaking Mark Sanchez for the starting position. He gets more comfortable day-by-day, but the preseason will be the real test for both QBs.
Third Round offensive line selection, Brian Winters, spent time with the 'ones,' as veteran free agent pick-up, G Stephen Peterman, was out with a shoulder injury.
RB Chris Ivory participated in individual drills but, returned to the bikes for team drills.
CB Dee Milliner got onto the field today. On his first day, Milliner said, "Man, it was good. (To) get back out here on the field, get through the drills, get back out there with the team. It felt good the whole time I was out there, just (doing) what the trainers asked me and just moving on and progressing."
WR Stephen Hill is having a quite, but productive training camp. Signs of improvement. On if he thinks he's having a successful camp, Hill said, "Oh it definitely has (been). Especially with the addition (of) Braylon (Edwards) and his experience, (as well as) Santonio’s (Holmes) experience, it’s definitely been helping a lot."
