DE Marcus Spears, who suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee two weeks ago, said he would like to play at least the Sept. 2 preseason finale against the Dolphins, a game the starters typically don’t even suit up for. It is believed that Spears is a question mark for the start of the season much less the end of the preseason. “I don’t want to get to Washington (Sept. 12) and not have any reps before that,” Spears said. “Even after so many years in the league, I need a few preseason snaps.” We admire Spears’ desire to get back into the game, but when it comes to knee ligaments it’s better to be safe than sorry.
