Getty Images Photo / Brian Bahr 2005 was a magical season for the Denver Broncos.  It was a perfect storm of desire and talent, along with a little luck, that launched the Broncos to a 13-3 record and a home Divisional Playoff game against the perennial Super Bowl favorite New England Patriots. Most of us remember the play and the mind-losing experience it caused. The biggest irony of it all is that the same man, Champ Bailey, was responsible for lighting the fire under this Broncos team in Week 2 of the season.  Coming off an embarrassing loss on opening day to the Miami Dolphins, the Broncos quickly fell down 14-3 to the San Diego Chargers at home. After getting rightly booed by the home fans, the Broncos fought their way to victory thanks to a game changing Champ Bailey interception return for a touchdown early in the third quarter. The Broncos never looked back, winning twelve of their final fourteen regular season games. Situation: AFC Divisional Playoffs. Third quarter, Broncos up 10-6 with the Patriots facing third and goal. The Play: Tom Brady is flushed out of the pocket and tries throw a pass off his back foot.  Champ Bailey steps in front and runs 100 yards to the one inch line. Up until that play, the Broncos were a bit on their heels and the Patriots seemed on the cusp of permanently swinging the momentum into their favor. Instead, at the games most pivotal moment, Bailey once again sparked the Broncos to victory, ending Brady’s perfect 10-0 record in the playoffs. As exciting as this interception return was, there are still two plays that easily trump what happened in this game.  For now, enjoy reliving this moment in the video below.
