Left Tackle Ryan Clady and head coach John Fox (Photo Credit: USATSI)On Friday, head coach John Fox sat down for an interview with Paul Burmeister from the American Century Golf Championship in Tahoe, to discuss, well basically everything, from the Ryan Clady deal to training camp and the new season. After the suspensions of Tom Heckert and Matt Russell last Monday, Coach Fox said that there are a lot of good people to fill those roles, and that his main focus right now is to get the team ready to make a run at the championship. “Well we’re still, you know, very involved. All the coaching staff, myself. I’ve got the utmost confidence. John Elway, and Joe Ellis, and Pat Bowlen will all do the necessary things,” Coach Fox said. Last Sunday, the Denver Broncos also signed up left tackle Ryan Clady with a 5-year, $52.5 million contract. When asked who was more relieved he signed the deal, him or Peyton Manning, Coach Fox said probably Peyton, because he is the one who has to take all the hits if Clady isn’t there. “We’re real excited. Ryan wanted to be a Bronco, and we wanted him and, you know, there’s two types to this business, there’s football and there’s the business, and eventually we got it worked out business wise.” With the signing of Wide Receiver Wes Welker in the off-season, Coach Fox isn’t sure how other teams will be able to defend the Broncos’ offense. “I told everybody that when we signed Wes Welker, I’m not sure who was happier, our offense or our defense, because now our defense doesn’t have to worry about that match-up. Wes creates a lot of problems, it’s hard to cover him with one guy. It just gives us another weapon as far as a match-up, and so we’re very, very please to have him,” Coach Fox said. As far as the empty running back position, Fox isn’t concerned at all. “What I’ve seen thus far with (rookie) Montee Ball, he’s been tremendous,” he said. The Denver Broncos training camp starts this Thursday, July 25th.
