Peyton Manning led the Denver Broncos to a week 1 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the season opener of NFL Sunday Night Football. While No. 18 is wearing a new jersey in Denver, he was once again No. 1 in NFL jersey sales after week 1. Sitting out a full season did not hurt Manning on the field, and it did not hurt his popularity at all either. In fact, not only did Manning finish as the league’s top selling jersey after the first week of the 2012 NFL season, but he also helped the Broncos see the highest increase in team sales after opening weekend. Denver saw a 131 percent increase after the first game, with the San Francisco 49ers [114 percent] and Houston Texans {100 percent] finishing in second and third place. It should also be noted that of the top 10 teams who saw the biggest increase in team sales after week 1, all 10 of them won their 2012 NFL season opener. I guess winning is contagious, both on and off the field for NFL teams. As for the top selling NFL jerseys a...

Peyton Manning already has his own corn field maze in Colorado

Yeesh, that didn’t take long.  Barely one game into his tenure as starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos and already Peyton Manning has his own corn field maze, located just outside Greeley, Colorado.  He was a god in Indianapolis and I don’t remember any farmer’s doing this for him during his time with the Colts.  Could be that there aren’t many corn fields in the...

Atlanta's Mike Nolan still trying to solve Manning

As a defensive coordinator and head coach, Mike Nolan has just one victory in seven tries against quarterback Peyton Manning. Nolan, in his first season as coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons, hopes to change his luck when Manning and the Denver Broncos visit the Georgia Dome on Monday night. Manning returned from a 20-month layoff following neck surgery to lead the Broncos to four...

Peyton Manning corn maze in Colorado

Just last week, I tweeted, "If there's a worse town in Colorado than Greeley, I haven't been to it." And I say that as somebody that lives in Colorado, and has for the last 15+ years now. While in most towns you might notice a landmark or something other than an official town sign to make you realize you've arrived in a town, you know you're in Greeley when...

One Colorado farm has decided to do their own version of a Peyton Manning corn maze to honor the new starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos. The work was done by Fritzler Farm in LaSalle and is set to open for the public on September...

Falcons prepare for Peyton Manning challenge

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. Coming off a 19-for-26 performance for 253 passing yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in an impressive 31-19 victory over Pittsburgh, Denver quarterback Peyton Manning showed the football world last Sunday that while he might have been playing his first game in two seasons, he is no less dangerous a player. On Monday night when he visits the Georgia...

Trip to N.Y. could be Giant task for young Bucs

TAMPA, Fla. You might think that the Tampa Bay Bucs would benefit from have a little inside knowledge regarding the tendencies and even the playbook of the New York Giants heading into Sundays Week Two game at MetLife Stadium. After all, Bucs offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan served on the Giants staff as quarterbacks coach for Eli Manning the past two seasons and oversaw their...

UF-Tennessee has the feel of their old rivalry

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. At its zenith in the 1990s, the Florida-Tennessee game meant Steve Spurrier tossing barbs, Peyton Manning throwing bombs and Sports Illustrated covers. It was often the regular-season game of the college football season. In the first 10 years of the new SEC that added Arkansas and South Carolina in 1992, either Florida or Tennessee represented the SEC East in every...

Denver Broncos at Atlanta Falcons: Week 2 NFL Pick

Denver Broncos (1-0) at Atlanta Falcons (1-0) If it wasn’t for Green Bay/Chicago, this would be the game of the week. Actually, scratch that, Green Bay/Chicago was an incredibly ugly game that should have been the game of the week, but wasn’t because teams only had 3 days to prepare and played much worse than they normally do. I hate this new one game on Thursday every week thing...

Giants need to take care of business now, with brutal schedule

Now, doesn’t this look reminiscent from a year ago. With the New York Giants facing the leagues toughest schedule in 2012, they will need to take care of their early-season games, which appear to be much easier than the later part of the season. In 2011, New York jumped on their September and early-October opponents, sprinting out to a 5-2 record before faltering in the back...

Brett’s Picks For The Top Three Games of Week Two

With week one now officially in the books, we can finally turn our sights on week two. For fans of some teams, such as myself [Buffalo], week two brings about a chance to see if your team really is as awful as they looked in week one. Buffalo, Philadelphia, Miami, Cincinnati and New Orleans fans I am looking at you. For others, such as New York Jets, Denver, Baltimore, Atlanta and...
