On Saturday, January 12, the Denver Broncos will host the Baltimore Ravens at Invesco Field at Mile High. The Ravens are coming off an emotional win over the wild-card Colts on the heels of legendary linebacker Ray Lewis's announcement that he would retire when the season ends. The Ravens, who backed into the playoffs losing four of their final five games, put together a convincing win in Lewis's last game in front of the home crowd.Ray Lewis has been a dominant force in football since being drafted out of Miami (Fla) by Baltimore with the 26th pick in the '96 Draft.During his 17-year career, No. 52 was invited to 13 Pro Bowls, playing in 12. His fiery leadership and outstanding play earned him MVP honors in Super Bowl XXXV. Lewis's team would like nothing better than to send him off with his second Super Bowl victory. However, emotion can take you only so far in this league, and then the numbers take over. Denver's numbers are just plain scary. The Broncos are coming off a first round bye after earning the No. 1 seed in the AFC, finishing the regular season 13-3 and winning their last 11 games. The Broncos also finished among the top five in the NFL in both total offense (4th) and total defense (2nd). Second-year linebacker Von Miller and defensive end Elvis Dumervil lead one of the league's best pass rushes with 29.5 sacks between the two of them. The secondary is dangerous as well, led by 14-year vet Champ Bailey, who has recorded 52 career interceptions. On the other side of the ball, the 17th ranked Ravens' passing defense will have to go up against the NFL's 5th ranked passing offense, led by none other than Payton Manning. In his first year in Denver, Manning has picked up right where he left off on his trek toward the Hall of Fame, racking up 4,659 yards and 37 touchdowns in what could be another MVP season. Manning has the Broncos galloping toward another Super Bowl win. It doesnt look like the Ravens have the numbers to slow them down.
