Cowboys-romo-talks
There will be many changes to this Dallas Cowboys team after falling to the New York Giants Sunday night and having their playoff dreams dashed. One change that won't happen...finding a new head coach. At least according to Cowboys ownergeneral manager Jerry Jones when the question was asked to him after the game if he still backed Jason Garrett. "Unequivocally," Jones said after the game in a video posted on DallasCowboys.com. "I feel that Jason is our coach and that we can build and do some good things from here and take some of the things we need to do better and address them. I've got a lot of confidence in him." Earlier this week, Jones publicly supported Garrett, saying his job was safe no matter what the outcome Sunday night's game would be. While Garrett's decision making in this game is already under fire in Dallas, Jones is standing by his word so far. "He has done a lot of good things here and he's learned a lot this year,...

Jason Garrett Must Have Given The Worst Greatest Speech Of All Time Last Night

For the Dallas Cowboys, tonight’s game against the New York Giants is for all the marbles. Win and you’re in. Lose, and you’re in for another long off season filled with questions like… Can Jason Garrett get the job done? Is Tony Romo a legitimate franchise QB? Will Rob Ryan finally cut his god-awful hair? With so much at stake, you would expect Garrett, whose seat is hotter...

Garrett fires up Cowboys with speech at team hotel

NEWARK, N.J. – Jason Garrett apparently closed out 2011 with one heck of a speech on the eve of the Cowboys’ win-or-go-home game with the New York Giants. “Jason Garrett just gave the greatest speech I’ve heard in all my years playing football,” cornerback Terence Newman wrote via Twitter from the team hotel at Newark’s airport. The Cowboys (8-7) face the Giants (8-7...

Cowboys' Garrett endorses youth movement

Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett acknowledged his club has improvements to make but is ready to move forward.

Jason Garrett: "Another Level" Of Stars Coming

The Dallas Cowboys have seen their share of struggles in the draft of late, but according to head coach Jason Garrett, the team has a younger wave of future stars in place and developing rapidly. This week, Garrett discussed the new generation of future stars--coming up behind veteran stars like Tony Romo, Jason Witten and DeMarcus Ware--all of whom have come from the team’s past...

Jason Garrett says Cowboys’ improvement starts with him

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett knows that this year’s 8-8 record is unacceptable. And he says he’s the one who has to get better. Garrett said he’s evaluating all aspects of the team that need to improve, and that it starts with him. “We just have to get better and that’s what we told our team,”…

Where do the Cowboys go from here?

This is how it nearly always ends for the Dallas Cowboys. Maybe not the exact record or final outcome, but this team is the biggest tease in the NFL. It's hard to believe the Cowboys seemed to be a lock for the playoffs with a 7-4 record following a win over the Miami Dolphins on Thanksgiving. The Giants had imploded following a 6-2 start and were on their way to getting head...

Plenty of reasons to draft a cornerback in the first round

IRVING – Jason Garrett declined to say Monday whether the Cowboys should concentrate on offense or defense with the 14th overall pick in April’s 2012 NFL Draft. “A hard question for me to answer right now,” he said. “We have a lot of evaluation to do between now and then with the bulk of our team and potential draft guys. We’ll have a lot of discussions about that between...

NFL Reactor: Giants Headin' To The Playoffs

The NFL regular season is now officially over, but it didn't go out with a whimper. In the game of the week, we got a de-facto playoff game between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys. When the dust settled, the Giants were victorious thanks largely to Eli Manning. The Giants jumped out of the gate all over the Cowboys, gaining a 21-0 first half lead. The Giants allowed...

Cowboys believe offseason program will make a difference

IRVING – Shortly after the Cowboys’ 31-14 loss to the Giants, former Dallas fullback Daryl “Moose” Johnston offered a ray of sunshine to Cowboys fans by extolling via Twitter the virtues of Cowboys strength and conditioning coach Mike Woicik. What Johnston said was similar to what he told the Dallas Morning News last year after the Cowboys hired Woicik. “I think he’s...

Garrett likely mulling a Free-Smith offensive line position swap this week

IRVING – At his wrap up news conference Monday, Jason Garrett didn’t rule out the possibility of Tyron Smith and Doug Free swapping positions next season.  Smith was solid as a rookie at right tackle after the Cowboys made him the ninth overall pick. Free was a disappointment in his second season at left tackle.  “We’ll look at that,” Garrett said.  Garrett and his staff...

Cowboys Defense Has Major Lack of Talent

Many folks will try to pin Sunday night's win-or-go-home loss to the New York Giants on Tony Romo. Those people are idiots. Many others will place the blame squarely on Jason Garrett's shoulders. Those people are getting warmer. But one thing is clear from watching Sunday night's debacle in the Meadowlands, and it's that the Dallas Cowboys just aren't what we...
