Looking for a holiday gift for ‘that’ boss who half-heartedly cheers for the Lions? What about that pesky father-in-law who chooses the Lions to win on Thanksgiving every year? Can’t find one? Hurry to the shelves for a 2013 Detroit Lions calendar. It’s probably the best worst gift that a sports fan could ask for. Titus Young is featured on the cover of the Lions’ 2013 Calendar, but that’s just the start of this mess. (Photo courtesy of Amazon) While the calendar, made by Turner, costs $21.99, it captivates everything the Lions stand for and have stood for in the NFL: failure. The company failed to put either of the team’s offensive stars on the front cover. Rather, it’s the likes of second-year wide receiver Titus Young, who has been placed on Injured Reserve with a knee injury and sent home full Now, if you haven’t heard about the full story on Titus Young, you can read about him here and many other places across the interwebs, and I suggest you do, because it’s quite hilarious. It just shows how inept the Lions coaching personnel and higher-ups have been in recent years, all bundled into one scenario. However, it gets worse. Former Lions defensive back Aaron Berry also makes an appearance in the calendar, just in time to kick off the new year in January. Unfortunately for Turner, Berry hasn’t suited up for the Lions at all this year. In fact, he’s currently playing for the Jets. But wait, there’s more. The calendar features more players that have been inept for the Lions and have their futures with the Lions in serious doubt. Nate Burleson, who s uffered a broken leg and could be considered doubtful to return the team in coming years, is in the calendar. Running back Jahvid Best, whose constant concussions will likely end his career, also makes an appearance.Last, but certainly not least, Turner left a nice little spot for all those Super Bowl victories to be listed, right under “Super Bowl History”. You know, the ones that the Lions don’t have. Oh, and it’s also worth noting that the schedule contains the all important 2012 schedule that Lions fans will be drooling over in 2013. I sure can’t wait to see this year’s schedule next year! Want to talk smack on a Lions fan?
