There could be a total of five Lions’ players that end up in the game; Reggie Bush, Nick Fairley, and Matthew Stafford were selected to be alternates. This is the first year that NFL players were selected to the Pro Bowl without regards to their conference. Players were selected by a vote through the League’s coaches, players, and fans. There will be two captains, Deion Sanders and Jerry Rice, who will draft their respective team from the list of players selected. Johnson is one of four players to average more than 100 receiving yards per game this season. Megatron is second in the league in receiving yards with 1,492 and has 12 receiving touchdowns, which is tied for the second most. The Lions’ star wide receiver set the record for the most receiving yards in a three-year span with 5,137, which was previously held by Jerry Rice (4,850). It is unclear whether or not Johnson will play against the Minnesota Vikings in the last game of the season due to a lagging knee injury. It is possible that the injury will even prevent him from participating in the Pro Bowl. This is Suh’s third selection in his four-year career. Among defensive tackles, Suh is tied for the fifth most tackles (34) and tied for the seventh most sacks (5.5). Fairley and Suh are the only defensive linemen to record a safety this season as teammates. Stafford would be the first Lions’ quarterback to play in the Pro Bowl since Greg Landry did in 1971. His 4,433 yards this season ranks third in the NFL. If Stafford throws for at least 67 yards in the season finale he will have surpassed the 4,500 yard plateau for the third consecutive season. Fairley is the only player in the NFL to score a defensive touchdown and record a safety. Three of Fairley’s four and a half sacks have come in the past seven games. Bush needs just 26 more rushing yards to surpass the 1,000 yard mark for just the second time in his career. He has also accumulated 473 receiving yards in his first season as a Detroit Lion. If Bush gains 53 more total yards in the last game of the season, he will have gained 1,500 total yards this season for this first time in his career. DeAndre Levy was snubbed from being a Pro Bowl selection as an outside linebacker. Those who were selected at Levy’s position were at the top of the list for sacks this season. The Lions’ linebacker failed to record a sack but he did have the most interceptions at his position with six.
