Yesterday, the Arizona Cardinals ended a nine-game losing streak when they beat the Detroit Lions 38-10. For the Lions, the loss puts them at 4-10 and solidly in last place in the NFC North. A year after finally making the playoffs, the Lions are right back where they were for the last 10 years. And this places Jim Schwartz in the cross hairs. Last season, the Lions finished 10-6, before losing to the Saints in the wild-card round of the playoffs. It was the Lions first playoff appearance since 1999 and their  first season with a .500 record or better since 2000.Fortunately though for Schwartz, he signed a contract extension last June. The details though, are locked up better than Fort Knox. And that extension is the only thing helping him at this point. With the talent the Lions have in Stafford, Johnson, Fairley, and Suh, it's definitely hard to understand why this team continues to perform far below expectations. With home games left against the Falcons and Bears remaining, Lions fans will have plenty of time to voice their displeasure.

Schwartz takes full blame for Lions' 4-10 record

ALLEN PARK, Mich. Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford took the blame on Sunday. His coach, Jim Schwartz, did the same on Monday. Schwartz said the onus is on him for the teams disappointing 4-10 record, the frustrating six-game losing streak and the latest defeat, a 38-10 embarrassment to the Arizona Cardinals. One-hundred percent, Schwartz said during his weekly news conference...

Schwartz blames himself for sorry season

ALLEN PARK, Mich. Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford took the blame on Sunday. His coach, Jim Schwartz, did the same on Monday. Schwartz said the onus is on him for the teams disappointing 4-10 record, its frustrating six-game losing streak and the latest defeat, a 38-10 embarrassment to the Arizona Cardinals. One-hundred percent, Schwartz said during his weekly news conference...

Dye: Schwartz deserves another season

ALLEN PARK, Mich. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went from 10-6 in 2010 to 4-12 last season. It got coach Raheem Morris fired. The Detroit Lions were 10-6 last year and are two more losses from also finishing 4-12. Will that get Jim Schwartz canned? In this day and age, whenever a team fails to live up to expectations, the demand for a coaching change is inevitable. Sometimes it'...

Jim Schwartz Monday Press Conference Recap, Week 15: 4-10 Just Isn’t Good Enough

This piece is also published at Lions 101 The Detroit Lions suffered their ugliest loss of the season on Sunday afternoon, getting blown out 38-10 by the equally hapless Arizona Cardinals. Despite that, Jim Schwartz kept things as close to business as usual as he could in his shortened Monday presser, and admitted he’s sharing a big responsibility for his team’s multitude of...

Lions-Cardinals summed up in two pictures

Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford got in some cornerback drills Sunday.  Following two picks, Stafford had to turn and run hard in the opposite direction to try to prevent interception returns for touchdowns. He failed twice.  The Lions gave up two pick-sixes in the 38-10 drubbing.  The performance can be summed up in two pictures – Stafford trying to fight off a herd of Cards’...

For some reason former Lions punter Ryan Donahue just hit a backwards, seated, over-the-head 3/4 court basket

How the Detroit Lions got to 4-10

If you hadn’t done so already, you certainly jumped ship on the Detroit Lions after Sunday’s 38-10 drubbing in Arizona. Coming into the game favored by a touchdown and facing a team that has been forced into starting rookie sixth-round pick Ryan Lindley at quarterback, it seemed as though the Lions would win this game. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Detroit was...

Lions lose sixth straight

There are 130 days until the NFL Draft. Not much else to look forward to at this point for the Detroit Lions. When you lose to one of the laughingstocks of the NFL, you become the laughingstock, dont you? Week 15 Injury Report: Fairley and Pettigrew doubtful heading into Arizona

After seemingly getting healthy the past couple of weeks the Lions have once again hit the injury snag. Heading into Week 15 the Lions look to be without defensive tackle Nick Fairley (shoulder) and Brandon Pettigrew (ankle) which could come to the delight of some Lions fans. Safety Louis Delmas (knee) also enters the week questionable after having a limited practice Thursday and...
