There’s a common misconception in New England that Devin McCourty is not only one of the weakest members of the Patriots’ defense, but that he’s a bad player in general. That could not be further from the truth. In fact, McCourty is the most underrated player on the entire team. McCourty had a fantastic rookie season, and hopes were high as he entered his sophomore season that he would become the shutdown cornerback that the Patriots hadn’t seen since Asante Samuel or Ty Law. Unfortunately, a mix of man coverages and weak safety play led to McCourty giving up some big plays in key moments. Unfortunately, none of those are parts of the game that a typical NFL fan may see. It’s only when McCourty was matched up deep, trailing his receiver that fans’ eyes perked up and noticed him. That’s also exactly when fans would t...

Patriots Running Game May Suffer More Than Passing Game Following Rob Gronkowski’s Broken Forearm (Video)

With all the excitement after the Patriots’ triumphant performance on Sunday evening from Foxboro, lost in the shuffle was the absence of one of New England’s biggest stars. Following the game, it was announced that Gronk had suffered a broken forearm...

17 NSFW Patriots Haters Ripping Belichick For Running Up It Up On Colts

The Patriots were up 38-17 on the Colts going into the fourth quarter. They scored :13 seconds later to go up 45-17. Seems to be about a reasonable time to pull some of your starters out, right? Throw in the fact that they have Thursday night divisional game this week, and it seems all but guaranteed. Apparently Bill Belichick didn’t think so. Of course the Patriots went on to...

NFL Rumors: Patriots Cut Deion Branch But Clear Up Injury Concerns About Wes Welker And Brandon Lloyd

In a surprising move on Saturday, the New England Patriots cut wide receiver Deion Branch for the second time in less than three months, opening up a roster spot for Aqib Talib and promoting Greg Salas from the practice squad. While that move may be bad news for Branch, it could be good news for fantasy football owners of Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd. First off, if you owned Branch...

Patriots release Deion Branch again, activate Greg Salas

The Patriots have released Deion Branch and Malcolm Williams. Greg Salas and Aqib Talib are added to the 53. #PatriotsTalk— Tom E. Curran (@tomecurran) November 17, 2012Again with this? What does the Rob Gronkowski forearm injury means to the Patriots?

The New England Patriots may have put a whooping on the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, but they lost their second-most important offensive player in the process. Now that Gronk is expected to miss at least four weeks with a broken forearm, the Patriots will need to make some...

The New England Patriots superb offense finally got some help from the rest of the team. Rob Gronkowski’s Forearm Injury a Tough Break for Ailing Patriots as Offense Was Finally Getting Back on Track

Rob Gronkowski had another record-breaking performance during the Patriots’ blowout win over the Colts on Sunday. But it was a very different kind of break that may be the real story. In the midst of a seven-catch, 137-yard, two-touchdown performance, Gronkowski reportedly broke his forearm and could be out for 4-6 weeks. The broken bone was the lone bit of misfortune in an otherwise...

The Thrill of Victory and the Agony of the Forearm: Patriots 59, Colts 24

I was planning on waxing eloquent about the Patriots huge victory tonight, but at the moment, I'm just trying to fight my way out of the catatonic state that Rob Gronkowski's broken forearm has put me in... Let's skip over the big story for a moment though, and concentrate on what was a truly excellent game by the Patriots. I missed the better part of the 1st half...
