Tweet In a recent interview with ESPN Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant compared himself to Lions star Calvin Johnson, who many believe is the best wide receiver in the league, and even says that he can do just about anything Johnson can do on the football field: “I believe I can do whatever he can do,” Bryant said. “I think it’s just a pride thing. When it comes to football, just being on the field, it’s a mindset and having a mentality. I honestly believe when I’m there, I’ll be feeling like there’s nothing I can’t do. Whatever the coaches ask me to do, I’m going to do it. “I always feel like there’s more. I think that’s just a mindset you’re supposed to have.” While Bryant has developed into one of the better receivers in the NFL, saying that he can do everything that Johnson can do is a bit outlandish. Johnson measures at about 6’5″, 240-lbs and runs a sub-4.4 forty yard dash, while Bryant comes in about 6’2″, 220 and ran somewhere in the low 4.4′s. Johnson’s height and leaping ability also make him a matchup nightmare, as he’s able to make unbelievable catches like this one against the Bengals last Sunday. Johnson also set an NFL record for receiving yards in a season with 1,964 in 2012. While Bryant is a great receiver in his own right, Johnson has a clear physical advantage over him. Johnson has also displayed better character and consistency over Bryant over the years. Bryant has made strides in his maturity, but he still has a little room to grow in this area. Bryant has come into his own as an NFL receiver the last couple of years, and apparently has the confidence to go along with it. He just needs to continue to prove it on the field before we can elevate him to Megatron’s level. -ALR

Hamstring, wrist issues limit Cowboys WR Bryant in practice

Dez Bryant's name popped up on the Cowboys' injury report after practice Wednesday. Bryant was listed as having limited participation with hamstring and wrist issues, but neither is likely very serious since he suited up and took part in some drills. Running back DeMarco Murray saw his first practice action since spraining an MCL (knee) against Washington. Murray was limited...

Decoding Callahan: Sorting Out the Red Zone

Sunday was another odd day at the office in the sense that they won and rolled up an above-average day as far as yardage is concerned, but they also used their punter as many times before halftime (6) as he had been used all year in any full game. Jones ended up punting 9 times to end 15 drives, with 2 others ending in interceptions (albeit one as a desperation hail mary) and only...

The Detroit Lions fell to (4-3) Sunday afternoon to the Cincinnati Bengals 27-24 in front of a sold out crowd.
