The officiating crew for Super Bowl XLVII used their flags quite sparingly down the stretch, which many believe helped the Baltimore Ravens hold on to beat the San Francisco 49ers. On what turned out to be the Niners’ last drive of the game, Jim Harbaugh felt that the Ravens got away with pass interference on two plays. The first came on 2nd-and-goal, when Colin Kaepernick rolled to the right and tried to hit Michael Crabtree near the sideline. Baltimore cornerback Corey Graham appeared to jump on Crabtree’s back to break up the play, and it looked as though he may have gotten there early. It was a bang-bang play that could have gone either way and there was no call. Then on 4th-and-goal, it seemed a bit more obvious that the Ravens got some help from the refs. Baltimore sent several blitzers on the play, forcing Kaepernick to just float a pass toward Crabtree in the back right corner of the end zone. As you can see from the video above, it appeared that Jimmy Smith held him while t...

Super Bowl’s Controversial Ending Will Be Greatly Scrutinized in Days to Come (Video)

Super Bowl XLVII had a little bit of everything. But the part of the game that will be most talked about — other than the half-hour power outage, of course — is the controversial ending. On fourth-and-goal from inside the Ravens’ 5-yard line with less than two minutes to play, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick tossed a fade to Michael Crabtree in the end zone. Crabtree jostled...

San Francisco 49ers controversial failed 4th down conversion

With the game on the line on 4th and goal with less than two minutes left, the San Francisco 49ers put the ball in Colin Kaepernick’s hands and it backfired.  The play calling once the 49ers got near the goalline was not very good and it cost them.  The Ravens knew they had to throw the ball and so they made sure to dial up the blitz on 4th down.  Kaepernick had no time to throw...

Jim Harbaugh criticizes Super Bowl officiating

San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh believes his team was robbed in the final minutes of Super Bowl XLVII.The 49ers, down 34-29 to the Baltimore Ravens with 1:46 remaining in the game, needed 5 yards to take the lead for the first time.  But Colin Kaepernick's desperate throw on fourth-and-goal sailed over wide receiver Michael Crabtree's head. Ravens dominant in the first half of the Super Bowl; lead 21-6

Outside of a questionable fake field goal gone bad, the Baltimore Ravens have dominated the first half of Super Bowl XLVII, leading 21-6 at halftime. The Ravens have looked crisp on offense and extremely fast on defense while the 49ers have looked slow, sluggish and off their game. In other words, one team came ready to play, and the other apparently forgot today was game day....

San Francisco 49ers 2013 Needs

A lot is being made about the 4th and goal non-holding call by the referees that essentially ended the game. I don’t think it was necessarily a bad call. It was a borderline call and either team would have had a beef depending on the outcome of the call. Obviously it’s not the way you want a Super Bowl to be decided, but I don’t have an issue with it. At least the refs were...
