LeGarrette Blount took the league by storm his rookie season after breaking 1,000 yards rushing in just 13 games. Last season, just two years after his rookie campaign, Blount found himself sitting on the bench and barely sniffing the field. Much of the reason why Blount rarely saw the field was because Doug Martin was unstoppable in 2012. Martin was even named to the Pro Bowl after gaining 1,926 total yards from scrimmage and scoring 12 touchdowns (11 rushing). But Blount had opportunities get more playing time. His inabilities to break tackles, gain yardage, and pick up blocks also contributed to his demotion. At times, Blount seemed as if he didn’t even care to don a Buccaneers jersey. Scheduled to become a restricted free agent this offseason, it’s doubtful Tampa Bay will bring him back and he may already be aware of that. The Buccaneers will have several options via free agency to sign someone that can come in and spell Doug Martin when needed. Perhaps even sign someone with the intent to have that two-back threat they initially thought they were going to have Martin and Blount. Now this is all speculative of course, but it is hard to overlook Blount’s body language as last season went on with the success Martin had. With that said, he may have been focusing on playing elsewhere week’s before the season ended. Oh, and Blount’s Twitter profile description once said he was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ running back. It no longer says that. (Photo Credit: US Presswire) The post Did LeGarrette Blount know his Buccaneers run was done? appeared first on The Bay Cave.
