The first injury of significance in the inaugural Camp Trestman is….D.J. Williams. The Chicago Bears offseason acquisition at linebacker was taking reps with the first team and is projected to be a starter in the Bears revamped corps. He’s listed as week by week, so this is significant! “That’s an opportunity for our young guys to get reps and see what people can do,” new Chicago Bears coach Marc Trestman said about it. Williams was carted off the field with a calf injury. Being “week to week,” don’t expect to see him in the Chicago Bears preseason opener versus Carolina in 10 days. The second “game” is six days later versus the San Diego Chargers. He still has 38 days to get better for when the Chicago Bears season kicks off versus the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept 8th. Jon Bostic was taking reps with the ones in place of Williams. The Bears are also down to their third LT now with Jermon Bushrod and Jonathan Scott out with injuries. However, neither injury is considered serious. The only Chicago Bears injury so far which is serious is Turk McBride; who was lost for the season with a ruptured achilles.
