  • I don't think Eli regrets joining the Giants. The Chargers organization was not as good as it is today. Plus his dad had a hand in 'deciding' where to go.

Eli has to be the leader for the Giants and take charge of the team on their road to the playoffs. If Coughlin is unable to control the players on the team, how will a quiet kid from Mississippi do it? Doesn't matter how he does it, he has to do it. Now he is learning what it is to be that guy.

Peyton Manning was not a very vocal leader when he first started in the NFL, but proved himself by being thrown to the lions by starting as a rookie and taking his lumps and then winning. Plus Polian did a great job of having Harrison and James there to share the load.

BUT that was in Indiana... Lots of expectations to be sure, but not a media crazed town like NYC. There they eat you for breakfast and poop you out before lunch.
  • It serves him right. I thought it was pretty disrespectful when he announced he didn't want to go to San Deigo, as a result I love seeing him lose for it.
  • I don't think Eli regrets not going to San Diego nearly as much as San Diego is ecstatic that they were able to get as much for Eli as they did. Essentially they got 3 Pro Bowlers in Rivers, Merriman, and Kaeding for Eli who is perhaps at best a top 10-15 QB. I think the irony of it is that San Diego not getting the elder Manning and having to settle on Ryan Leaf in essence crippled the Chargers Franchise for years but by taking the Younger Manning and then trading him perhaps will be the move that finally takes SD to the promised land and a Super Bowl Victory.
  • Thank you all for the comments. Great point SoCal. Poetic justice in a round about way. Very good points everyone.

    P.S. mnrlgry...serenity no. :)
  • Serenity now!
