As the Bengals prepare to face the Dolphins at PBS in about 30 minutes, here’s a quick glance at the inactives.

The Bengals are sitting some of the usual suspects, particularly DB’s Dre Kirkpatrick and Jason Allen, both of whom are still recovering from injuries.  They’ve been down pretty much all year, so its no surprise.  The good news is that Leon Hall and Nate Clements are both active and starting.  Clements will be at SS, and Hall will be at one corner.  Terence Newman will start at the other corner.

A side benefit here is that Adam Jones will probably be returning punts again this week.  Jones had been giving way to Brandon Tate on punt returns the last couple of weeks primarily because he was playing a lot of snaps at corner.

TE Richard Quinn, recently re-signed, is also down, as well as rookie safety George Iloka and DT Brandon Thompson and extra wide receivers Ryan Whalen and Marvin Jones.

Thus, the Bengals are going with just 2 tight ends again in Jermaine Gresham and Orson Charles, and will dress A.J. Green, Brandon Tate, Armon Binns, Andrew Hawkins, and Mo Sanu at wide receiver against the league’s 30th-ranked pass defense.

Bernard Scott will be active and should get some carries.  All in all, aside from Kirkpatrick and Allen, who are slowly coming around, the current roster is pretty healthy.

As for the Dolphins, the big news is starting CB Richard Marshall is down and didn’t even make the trip to Cincinnati.  This will be a match-up the Bengals should exploit, especially since their best corner, Sean Smith, with be occupied all game with trying to stop A.J. Green.

Newly-signed Dolphin WR Jabar Gaffney is also down, along with WR Rishard Matthews, TE Michael Egnew, OL Will Yeatman, and QB Pat Devlin.
