MIAMI - 2009: Jeff Ireland of the Miami Dolphins poses for his 2009 NFL headshot at photo day in Miami, Florida. (Photo by NFL Photos)
Jeff Ireland was a dead man walking last off-season; his demise was all but predicted. However, Ireland saved himself by selecting promising rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill. As always in the NFL, your last move is the one everyone remembers and Tannehill was the shot in the arm Ireland needed to keep his job. The Dolphins search for a quarterback is over, but finding him the personnel around him to make him successful will be the key to Ireland’s long term security. “We’re looking for playmakers on offense. Look, we had two guys with over 60 catches (Brian Hartline and Davone Bess), but we’ve got to find guys that are scoring touchdowns,” Ireland said, via the Palm Beach Post. “This is the year that you got to do something. We’re in a very good position to utilize some of our cap space to bring in some veteran players on our football team, and we’re in a very good position to bring in some young players from a draft standpoint.” The Dolphins also have 9 picks in the 2013 NFL draft to help their cause further.   var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
