Randy Starks Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald writes that the Miami Dolphins have yet to offer franchise player DT Randy Starks a long-term contract after tendering him to a $8.45 million with the franchise tag. Jackson mentions that the Dolphins haven’t made a long-term offer since before designating him with the tag, which reportedly “wasn’t remotely close to his asking price.“  However, Starks, 29, “has a good attitude going into camp and won’t complain about his contract,” after sitting out “most of the offseason program.“ Starks is one of the better pass rushing defensive tackles in the league but offers little support in the run game according to ProFootball Focus. In the past players typically get long-term contracts who have shown a good attitude regarding their contract situation so it makes sense as to why Starks is letting everything play out. The Dolphins have until July 15th to sign Starks to a long-term contract rather than having the franchise tag play out. Paul Soliai The Dolphins also have not approached DT Paul Soliai about a long-term deal, according to Jackson. Soliai, 29, is also in the final year of his contract with the Dolphins like Starks.  According to ProFootball Focus, Soliai is more of a balanced player that does not excel in pass rushing or run support but has been a solid player at his position. Jackson mentions that the Dolphins might have to choose between Starks and Soliai after the 2013 season so it may be difficult to keep the tandem together.  This will be a situation to keep an eye on after this upcoming season ends.
