The Miami Dolphins aren’t being shy in their support for running back Lamar Miller. They have virtually cast off incumbent Reggie Bush, and 2011 second round pick Daniel Thomas has already been deemed the backup. According to Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel, Miller is the guy who the Dolphins will ride with. Miller was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 4th round of the 2012 NFL Draft, 97th overall. As the Dolphins continue to develop their zone blocking scheme, they need a runner who can see the backside and cut his run across the blocking. Bush is more of a make you miss back, Thomas more straight line runner, and neither are good fits for the scheme. Miller has the vision and feet the stop, make one cut and head up field, or cut back and run to the backside. Kelley writes: ‘The future of the franchise's running game is being put in the hands of the former University of Miami standout, whom the team traded up to get in the fourth round of last year's draft, which featured his stock dropping because of a shoulder injury he played with at UM. It is his ability to make jump cut moves, which are what's needed to get to the second level in a zone blocking scheme. Some backs see a hole and hit it. Some have the vision to identify holes on the backside and the ability to change directions and hit the hole. Second level runs equals big plays.’   var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
