The Miami Dolphins need a #1 wide receiver, and reports suggest they are down to choosing between Mike Wallace and Greg Jennings. NFL.com is reporting today the Dolphins prefer Wallace over Jennings.  Jeff Darlington is reporting that Dolphins are prepared to throw large money at Wallace to get him to South Beach. If all goes as planned — and yes, there is a plan — Ireland will have a corps of pass catchers within the next week that includesMike Wallace, Brian Hartline and Davone Bess, sources said. The plan (“Plan A”, at least) does not include Greg Jennings, who isn’t as valued by the organization as many outsiders believe him to be. The Dolphins covet Wallace because of his ability to make plays in the end zone, recognizing their high reliance on field goals in close games last season. They covet his speed, which would add a dynamic that was missing on a team without a player who could force defenses to respect the deep ball. Miami is about $37 million under the cap, so can we expect them to offer Wallace no less than the five years $56 million Dwayne Bowe just got from Kansas City. I would Expect Wallace to be aware of the leverage he has with Miami, and try to get the $12 to $13 million a year that he covets.

Fantasy Football Injury Focus: Greg Jennings

Greg Jennings is the perfect example of a fantasy stud coming off an injury-marred season. He spent the 2012 season dealing with a groin injury that was treated conservatively at first (rehab, strengthening/stretching, modalities), which resulted in him coming back for 3 games in September before hitting the shelf again. He then had surgery to repair a tear in his lower rectus abdominis...

Packers decline to use franchise tag on Jennings

The Green Bay Packers declined to use their franchise tag on Greg Jennings, meaning the star wide receiver will become an unrestricted free agent next week. The agent for Jennings, who ranks in the top 10 on the all-time Packers reception list, can begin speaking with other teams as soon as Saturday, although no deal can be signed until March 12, according to a Milwaukee Journal...

No Franchise Tag for Packers’ Greg Jennings: What’s Left for Green Bay’s Remaining Free Agents?

Although it came as no surprise, Greg Jennings is set to test free agency next week after the Green Bay Packers chose not to place a tag on their once prized wide receiver. Among the list of potential free agent wide receivers heading into next season, Kansas City’s Dwayne Bowe was the only player to receive the good stuff ahead of Monday’s tag deadline, thanks to the Chiefs...

Fantasy Football 2013: The Implications of Greg Jennings Testing the Open Market

Greg Jennings is fully expected to test the open market after news from Alex Marvez on Twitter that the Packers do not plan on tagging the 30 year-old receiver was reported. The news shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, I mean the man did put his home up for sale a month or so ago. Still, plenty of Packers fans—fantasy football fans as well—were quietly holding out hope of...

Dwayne Bowe’s Five Year $56 Million Deal Makes Him 3rd Highest Paid Wide Receiver In NFL

Greg Jennings and Mike Wallace are sitting somewhere wondering when their turn will come.  Percy Harvin now has a measuring stick for his new deal. Yesterday we reported that Dwayne Bowe and the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a new 5 year deal.  Today the numbers of that deal have been released, and they indeed will have a trickle down effect. According to Pro Football Talk...

Greg Jennings Would Be Perfect Replacement for Brandon Lloyd, But Price Tag Might Scare Patriots Away

Editor’s Note: NESN.com will evaluate and analyze one potential Patriots free agent addition every day from Feb. 18 through the start of NFL free agency on March 12. Fool me once? Shame on you. Fool me twice? Well, that’s something Bill Belichick will try to avoid this offseason. The Patriots have a dearth of wide receivers on their roster and need to find some playmakers for...

Wes Welker’s Potential Departure From Patriots Could Bring Danny Amendola, Greg Jennings to New England (Podcast)

It seems there’s only one position on Patriots fans minds right now: wide receiver. Patriots faithful is agonizing over slot receivers, outside receivers, deep threat receivers, Wes Welker, Brandon Lloyd, Danny Amendola and countless other options. Whether Welker is back in a Patriots uniform next year or not, New England will no doubt look to acquire a few outside targets for...

Re-signing Jones Should Be A Priority

Linebacker Brad Jones is set to become an unrestricted free agent next month With all the focus on Charles Woodson, Greg Jennings, Jermichael Finley and A.J. Hawk, the future of Brad Jones hasn’t been mentioned much in the past few weeks. That’s an oversight. General manager Ted Thompson should make a concerted effort to re-sign the veteran linebacker before the start of free...
