The Miami Dolphins need a #1 wide receiver, and reports suggest they are down to choosing between Mike Wallace and Greg Jennings.
NFL.com is reporting today the Dolphins prefer Wallace over Jennings. Â Jeff Darlington is reporting that Dolphins are prepared to throw large money at Wallace to get him to South Beach.
If all goes as planned â and yes, there is a plan â Ireland will have a corps of pass catchers within the next week that includesMike Wallace, Brian Hartline and Davone Bess, sources said. The plan (âPlan Aâ, at least) does not include Greg Jennings, who isnât as valued by the organization as many outsiders believe him to be.
The Dolphins covet Wallace because of his ability to make plays in the end zone, recognizing their high reliance on field goals in close games last season. They covet his speed, which would add a dynamic that was missing on a team without a player who could force defenses to respect the deep ball.
Miami is about $37 million under the cap, so can we expect them to offer Wallace no less than the five years $56 million Dwayne Bowe just got from Kansas City.
I would Expect Wallace to be aware of the leverage he has with Miami, and try to get the $12 to $13 million a year that he covets.
