(Eds: Adds details, quotes. ) By CURTIS CRABTREE Associated Press Just two seasons after being the second-leading receiver for the Arizona Cardinals, Early Doucet finds himself in a battle just to earn a roster spot with the Seattle Seahawks. Doucet signed with the Seahawks over the weekend and stepped onto the practice field for the first time on Sunday. Doucet joins a crowded group at receiver trying to make the back end of the Seahawks roster. Seattle has 13 receivers vying for playing time as the preseason gets underway Thursday. Sidney Rice, Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin appear to be locks to make the roster with second-year receiver Jermaine Kearse likely the fourth receiver. With Percy Harvin expected to remain on the physically unable to perform list to begin the season, that leaves eight receivers fighting for likely one or two spots. Doucet's versatility is one of the biggest reasons head coach Pete Carroll wanted to add another receiver into the mix. ''He&...

Sidney Rice played Madden with fans in Switzerland

Sidney Rice’s 20-minute Swiss knee procedure left just enough time for a quick game of Madden before heading back to Seattle. Rice, who left training camp last week for a non-surgical procedure in Zurich, Switzerland, made the day of a lucky Swiss fan when he showed up at his house for some barbeque and a game of Madden. Many candidates for bigger roles in wake of Harvin’s absence

Percy Harvin is as dynamic of a playmaker as there is in the NFL. But while he was expected to contribute to a decent chunk of the Seattle Seahawks’ passing offense this year, the Seahawks will have numerous options to replace Harvin’s production. “We have a lot of playmakers,” says Golden Tate, one of the players who should see an increased workload in Harvin’s absence...

James Carpenter tweaks knee

Here we go again. A promising prospect at guard for the Seattle Seahawks, James Carpenter has not yet been able to live up to his potential as he has finished each of his two NFL seasons on injured reserve. There are high hopes for him as a road-grating left guard this year, but an apparent knee injury in practice today could potentially derail a healthy start to the season. Danny...

All-Pro center Unger the perfect fit for Seattle

Ask Max Unger about becoming the Seattle Seahawks' second interior offensive lineman to ever be named All-Pro, and he gives the typical answer about being honored for the recognition and that the success of those around him is the reason he was noticed. Ask Unger - a born-and-raised Hawaiian - about being selected to start in the Pro Bowl last season, and he becomes more thoughtful...

Seattle's revamped D-line ready for preseason

On a team that counts continuity among its greatest strengths, the Seattle Seahawks are hoping that change can be a good thing for the defensive line. Veterans Cliff Avril, Michael Bennett and Tony McDaniel were brought in to add depth and their value could become even greater while Bruce Irvin serves a four-game suspension and Chris Clemons recovers from knee surgery that has his...

Blackout lifted in SD for Chargers-Seahawks preseason game

Looks like today isn’t all bad news for Chargers’ fans. The team announced that the blackout has been lifted on Thursday’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. The news comes a day after the team received a 24-hour extension to sell through 1,800 tickets. Whether those tickets were sold or a corporate sponsor bought them at a discounted price remains a mystery. A mystery...

Fantasy Football 2013: Why You Should Draft Seattle Seahawks Team Defense

It’s been a minute but i’m back and i’m ready to talk defense.  In past years (and even this year) you definitely have a guy or guys in your league that either takes a defense in the second to last or last round because they figure they can just get through the year picking up a new defense every week.  I’m not down with that.  Last year in standard scoring leagues the...

Early Doucet released by Seahawks after one practice

The Seattle Seahawks have released wide receiver Early Doucet after he struggled with an injury in his first practice with the team, according to Darin Gantt of NBC Sports. The team stated that their reason for releasing Doucet so soon after acquiring him is because he “failed to disclose a physical injury” prior to signing his contract. It is currently unknown what that injury...

For The Seattle Seahawks, Losing Percy Harvin Is Not The End Of The World

Training camps for all 32 NFL teams have been underway for the last week, but not without the injury bug rearing its grotesque head: Jeremy Maclin (Eagles) out for season with ACL tear, Dennis Pitta (Ravens) out for season with a dislocated hip, Bryan Bulaga (Packers) out with torn ACL, Dan Koppen (Broncos) out for season and lastly, but certainly not least, Percy Harvin will...

Who will return kicks for the Seattle Seahawks?

Looking at the playing field Maybe the Seattle Seahawks shouldn’t have released Leon Washington… It’s starting to look that way following the news that Percy Harvin will be out for – at the very least – twelve weeks of action in the upcoming season. Just our luck, huh. Going forward the Seahawks have yet to name his replacement in the return game. That’s not to say they...
