Things just keep spiraling downward in New Orleans.
In the midst of BountyGate, the Saints slapped Drew Brees with the franchise tag on Monday after failing to come to terms on a long-term deal.
Well, it didn’t sit too well with the record-setting quarterback, who was said to be “livid” shortly after receiving the designation.
Now it appears Brees is taking his unhappiness a step further.
Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune appeared on PFT Live Thursday, saying that he expects Brees not to sign the franchise tender, nor show up for offseason workouts next month.
Duncan, a longtime Saints beat reporter, also noted that Brees’ “team-first” image would be tarnished, and he could get “heat” from the rest of the club if he followed through with these intentions.
