I'm not sure if this has been posted already but I'm going to post it since I havent seen it around the yard. This guy John Nalbone is ripping Andy after the draft, he called this draft a Vanilla draft. He says the Eagles are being graded not for the guys they picked up, but for the ones they let slip away. Here is some of what he had to say about Andy, the draft, and the Lito situation. This is his response when Andy said he wasnt to just give Lito away and he's just like any other player on the Eagles roster. "Lito's a good football player. I'm not just going to give him away," Reid said. "As I sit here, right now, Lito is an Eagle. That's how it is ... just like every other guy on this football team." Only Sheppard is not like every other guy on Reid's football team. No one else on the Eagles was being shopped everywhere except eBay over the past two months. No other player saw his job handed to a free agent (Asante Samuel) that cost the organization $57.14 million Feb. 29. As a result, no other player has more motivation to stay away from this weekend's mandatory post-draft minicamp at the NovaCare Complex. According to Reid, the offers for Sheppard were "not significant," but it also is clear that using him to help move up from the No. 19 spot in the first-round Saturday did not pay off, either. Sheppard, 27, and his 17 career interceptions had been devalued so much over the past 10 weeks that his injury history, desire for a new contract and the fact Reid covets a first-round pick in return narrowed the market considerably. The article is a two pager and very interesting this guy clearly doesnt like what Andy has done, I dont know if he hates the draft that Andy had, but he clearly doesnt think it was one of his best.

  • can i say this? ok i'm gonna, i did see this, the guy that wrote this can BITE ME!! that is all LOL!!!
  • Who cares what this writer thinks. And so what another guy came in a makes more money at that position. Remember Lito is EMPLOYED by the eagles and when you work for a company they often hire guys making more money than you. Take this for an example, I started my job at a base salary 5k more than another guy who had been doing the same position for 2 years. That was what I asked for and thats what I got. It happens all the time in business and football is no different. Now maybe the guy should have asked for more money than what he gets when they offered him the job but thats his fault. He can't go back to management and say "he's making more money than I am and I want a raise" after he already agreed. Just like Lito signed is contract, he should be mad at his agent and himself for locking himself in that deal. When the eagles let go Bobby Taylor and Troy Vincent for contract disputes and put the future in Lito and Sheldon, we turned out pretty good without them and we will be ok with or without Lito. He is not the end all be all of the NFL. Tell him to stay on the field for a whole season and get off the "probable" or "questionable" list every week. Thats like me calling out of work every week and want more money. What a joke!
  • Personally I like the first round trade and if you were to tell me a month ago that we would have traded out of the first round and got 3 picks in return, one of which is a first rounder next year and still got Desean Jackson and one of the top defensive tackles in the draft in round two I wouldn't have believed it. This guy is obviously just disappointed that the Eagles couldn't unload Lito for whatever his value to either move up or pick up an established veteran player. I don't know too much about their 2nd day players especially the 6th and 7th round guys but overall I think that it was a decent draft. Time will tell as always with these thing and if the situation works out with Lito, either he stays or goes.. we'll be in good shape regardless because we'll either have the best secondary in football or a crazy amount of picks to make some things happen now or later.... GO BIRDS!!
