A Philadelphia Eagles fan left U.S. Bank Stadium with a unique souvenir following his favorite NFL team’s Super Bowl LII triumph last Sunday: a seat from the stadium itself.

Amazingly, said Eagles fan somehow managed to sneak the ill-gotten piece of memorabilia through security at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Monday and flew home with the seat on a flight reportedly destined for Charlotte.

Marcus Certa, of Vermont, was waiting for a flight when the Eagles fan sat down next to him in the gate area.

“I kept waiting for somebody to say that he was too intoxicated to get on the plane or that he had a stolen item,” Certa told the Star Tribune. “The TSA and the feds are more concerned how much pot you have, not that you have a seat stolen from a stadium.”

Certa posted photographic evidence of the seat later on Instagram.

@usbankstadium you appear to be missing a seat. The drunk guy next to me has it.

Footage documenting the prize acquired courtesy of the Eagles fan’s thievery went viral after Barstool Sports posted a Facebook video of the man carrying the seat out of U.S. Bank Stadium.

The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA), which operates U.S. Bank Stadium, indicated on Wednesday it was aware of the incident and is investigating. Police spokeswoman Darcy Horn told the Star Tribune no theft or damage report has been filed.

Misbehavior by Eagles fans wasn’t limited to stadium seat theft, however. One witness claimed Eagles fans also destroyed some seats in a section where tickets sold for about $1,200.

“I heard a few cracks and turned around to see Eagles fans with beer in their bellies and smiles on their faces snapping off a seat back,” Zack Fick told the Star Tribune. “They kicked a hole in a seat and busted the whole thing off. Three seats right there in 307.”

The MSFA has indicated the damaged or stolen seats will be “repaired or replaced immediately.”
