Philly Sports Muse:
How much interest do the Eagles have in LB Dan Connor?
It’s a refrain you have heard–and likely said–many, many times. In order for the Eagles defensive to have a chance in 2012, the team must make some major improvements at the linebacker position.
Whether it be through the draft, free agency, or both, the Birds cannot ignore this need. It is screaming for attention.
Thankfully, the Eagles front office seems to be listening, and they are watching to see whose available. One player Philadelphia is reported to have their eyes on is Dan Connor (6’3, 233 lbs), who will be entering free agency along with many of his peers in the NFL on March 13th.
Geoff Mosher of the Wilmington News Journal cites “several league sources” as stating that the Eagles have interest in Connor, who spent his college career at Penn State and four seasons with the Carolina Panthers. However, Mosher’s report states that, though there is interest on Philadelphia’s part, Connor is not the team’s “first choice.”

Trying to get a feel for what the Eagles are going to do next week after the official start of Free Agent season, I've come upon some real brain-teasers... Although they say the camel is a horse designed by committee, I'm turning to the Bored for help.Darryl Tapp is not technically a free agent...yet...but he would need to have a breakout year at DE to justify my keeping...
The bounty program run by the New Orleans Saints a major story in the NFL, with head coach Sean Payton and general manager Mickey Loomis issuing an apology on Tuesday. The layers of how the program, run by defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, have impacted the game and the league will continue to be revealed in the coming days and weeks.
In the meantime, current and former players...
Remember Michael Vick’s epic 30th birthday party two years ago? Of course you do. That was the one that resulted in a parking lot shootout and one of Vick’s co-defendants in his dog fighting case being shot in the leg after birthday cake was allegedly smashed in someone’s face. According to a report Saturday by the Daily Press, that wasn’t the only fun that went down at the...
Andy Reid sat down with Les Bowen of the Daily News and discussed a bunch of things, including Peyton Manning. We already know Ray Didinger thinks the Eagles should go after #18, but what about Reid?
“We’re obviously happy with Michael,” Reid said. “You could ask that question of probably everybody in the National Football League except the Giants, right? … That’s not...
Fallen College Football Star, Marcus Vick finally turned himself in to the Newport News sheriff Sunday night.
The 27-year-old Newport News native and younger brother to Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Michael Vick had been sought on a bench warrant for repeatedly failing to appear in court to answer to a two-year-old traffic charge. Now he’s serving 10 days for contempt; with...
Crazy thought for the day: If Houston defensive end Mario Williams becomes a free agent, would the Philadelphia Eagles go after him?
I’ve been watching the Texans and how they handle the situation with Arian Foster and Mario Williams. My thinking was that there wouldn’t be any chance that either would hit the free agent market, especially Foster.
Peyton Manning will wear the horseshoe no more.
It doesn’t matter what team you ordinarily write about or root for. Today, you write about Peyton Manning, the soon-to-be former Colt.
No, he’s not retiring. He’s facing the fate of so many in the national football league, usually to much less pomp and circumstance: He is being cut by his team.
Some of the tributes that have...
"Never eliminate Andy Reid in the quest for a quarterback. He loved RG3 @ the combine."

Before anyone goes crazy, Didinger says he does not think the Eagles are in the running. With that said, he does believe it makes a ton of sense.
If Jeff Lurie really is the risk-taking, outside-the-box owner that he professes to be, he should sit down with his cabinet today and say, “Let’s talk about this.” You don’t get the chance to bid on an all-time great...
